Here are a few more reasons they should be nominated: On September 19th, 1995 Marshall Tucker Band was inducted into the South Carolina Music and Entertainment Hall of Fame
Here are some Golden reasons for induction!!!! Gold & Platinum Albums According to the Recording Industry Association of America the following MTB albums have been awarded Gold status, signifying 500,000 albums sold, and the date the award was issued:
The following albums have been awarded Platinum status, signifying one million albums sold, and the date the award was issued:
In order for an album to receive an RIAA award, there first must be a request, generally made by the record label. An audit is conducted of sales and when appropriate an awrd given. There is a payment for the process and the audit, hence, there may be a few Tucker titles that have achieved sales of over 500,000 units and thus could be honored by the RIAA, but have yet to be noted because a formal request has not been made. The RIAA was founded in 1958 and gold awards given beginning that year. In the 1970's the platinum mark was created and in 1999 the Diamond award, denoting ten million albums old, was created. Grammy Nominations MTB's only Grammy nomination came in 1977 for Country Instrumental of the yeer for Long Hard Ride, which gained alot of exposure thanks to the "video" which aired as a trailer before motion pictures. They lost, as did countless others, to Chet Atkins... "Love Song" in Top 100! Based on a progressive point system applied to the weekly Billboard and Cash Box pop charts, Heard It In a Love Song ranked # 88 of all singles released in 1977! It reached # 14 on the Billboard pop singles charts in March, 1977. It propelled the album from whence it came, Carolina Dreams, to # 23 on the album charts and platinum status (over on million in sales)! Million-Aires BMI's website lists Toy Caldwell as being a member of their elite Million-Airs club! He received this recognition for writing Heard It In A Love Song, which has been played on the radio over two million times and Can't You See, which has aired over one million times. Only about 1,500 titles have achieved "Million-Air" status (more than 1 million United States radio and television performances). One million performances is the equivalent of approximately 50,000 broadcast hours, or more than 5.7 years of continuous airplay! Congrats Toy! Congrats as well to Doug, Jerry, Paul, George and Tommy!
Finally:
UHHHHHHH, Do you own a Radio??? You can not turn on any classic station and not hear Can't You See, Heard it in a love song, Fire on the mountain, Hillbilly Band, etc, etc.....
